West Virginia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — West Virginia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell by 0.3% in October to the lowest rate on record.

According to WorkForce West Virginia, the statewide rate was 4.3% and the unadjusted rate was 2.9% last month. The seasonally adjusted rate in September was 4.6%.

Pendleton, Jefferson, Hampshire, Monroe and Morgan counties had unemployment rates at or below 2%. The counties with the highest rates were Calhoun, Mingo and McDowell counties.

Counties with an unemployment rate at or below 2.0 percent included Morgan (2.0), Monroe (2.0),Hampshire (1.9), Jefferson (1.8), and Pendleton (1.7).

Counties with an unemployment rate at or above 5.0 percent included McDowell (5.0), Mingo (5.1), and
Calhoun (5.5).
