West Virginia gets a new state forester and director of the state Division of Forestry

CHARLESTON, W. Va.–Gov. Jim Justice has appointed Jeremy Jones as the new State Forester and director of the state .

Jones has been with the Division of Forestry for more than 20 years, beginning his career as a service forester in Roane County. He’s served as Assistant State Forester-Fire most recently.

“I am honored to continue to serve the West Virginia Division of Forestry through this new role and thank Gov. Justice for this opportunity,” Jones said in a Monday morning news release from the governor’s office. “I am excited to lead the agency into the future.”

Jones is a state native and graduate of West Virginia University.
