ELKINS, W. Va.–A West Virginia sheriff’s office will be getting body cams.

The Randolph County Commission has approved the purchase of body cameras for the sheriff’s office.

20 cameras for the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office will cost the county just over $93,000.

The body cams will be bought from the firm Axon. Axon will maintain the body cams recordings for up to 15 years.

The cameras will also sync with each deputies’ taser and firearm, so that if one of those are pulled from a holster, the cameras will automatically record.

Axon will also swap the cams out every 2 1/2 years.
