Mon Marion Neighborhood Hospital opens

WHITE HALL, W.Va. — The new “small format” Mon Marion Neighborhood Hospital held an open house for the public on Monday.

The $15 million facility was built in just about one year and has 10 in-patient beds, eight emergency room beds, radiology, lab services, a pharmacy and has the ability to perform some outpatient procedures.

Mon Health President and CEO David Goldberg said the concept brings a wide range of services to the community at a fraction of the cost of a traditional hospital.

“We’re able to bring in, in a very affordable manner, hospital-based care with a full service emergency room to the community,” he said. “I think it’s a wonderful testament. This model has to be part of an integrated delivery system like Mon Health and we’re thrilled to be the first ones to bring this West Virginia.”

Dr. Christopher Edwards, chief administrative officer at Mon Marion Neighborhood Hospital, said workers at the hospital are fully cross-trained to keep patient care moving. He noted patients should not have long wait times for treatment, lab results or X-ray reviews.

“Our nursing can help our radiology, our radiology can help nursing, our lab vice versa doing the same thing,” Edwards said. “It’s an absolute team approach to the patient.”
