Man killed in by police in Doddridge County shootout

DODDRIDGE COUNTY, W.Va. – A suspect in a shots fired called was shot and killed by police in Doddridge County Thursday morning on Chipps Run Road.

Deputies from the Doddridge County Sheriff’s Department were called to scene at 7:15 and when they arrived the suspect immediately opened fire from the home. As deputies returned fire the suspect exited the rear of the home and continued to fire on police with an AR-15 rifle. At that point, deputies were able to shot the suspect.

During the exchange of gun fire a woman in the home was hit. She was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital in stable condition. Police did not know there were other occupants in the home.

State Police are investigating.
