Accident shuts down part of I-79 southbound in Marion County

FAIRMONT, W.Va. — At least one lane on I-79 southound is closed near the Fairmont string of exits due to a tractor-trailer losing some of its load on the highway.

WV511 is reporting the accident near mile marker 136, but the slowdown appears to begin slightly further south closer to Pleasant Valley.

The accident occured shortly after 8 a.m.

Local media reports indicate the entire interstate at this area will be shut down at some point to finish the clean-up process.
