FAIRMONT, W.Va. — An investigation is underway into what led to the discovery of a body off of Interstate 79 near the Marion County/Monongalia County line.
The West Virginia State Police responded to the call at around 1:50 p.m. Wednesday afternoon where they were followed by multiple local law enforcement agencies to the body near the weigh station just north of Fairmont. The West Virginia Medical Examiner was dispatched to the scene later that day.
According to the Marion County 911 Media Log, the incident was initially called in as a cardiac arrest, with the Winfield District Volunteer Fire Department, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the White Hall Police Department also dispatched to the scene.
