MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The man convicted in the November 2022 murder of a Fairmont resident will serve 25 years in prison.

Chance Williams, 26, of Morgantown, was sentenced Wednesday after being convicted last year of second-degree murder.
Williams stabbed and killed Jamey Corbin, 47, and then staged a traffic crash at the intersection of Green Bag Road and Luckey Lane jus outside of Morgantown.
Monongalia County deputies responded to a report of an accident and found Corbin with multiple stab wounds to his neck, chest and torso.
Corbin’s mother told deputies Williams and her son had a “tumultuous relationship” and Williams had physically abused her son in the past.
During the investigation, deputies found blood on the front door of Williams’ home and bloody clothing believed to have been worn during the murder. They also recovered the murder weapon.
Williams’ sentence includes credit for time served. He’ll have a chance for parole in 10 years.
