CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Bridgeport police were able to arrest a drunk driver after a poursuit with speeds well over 100 miles per hour.
Around 11:36 p.m. Friday officers with the Bridgeport Police Department were traveling north on Interstate 79 near mile marker 119 in the construction zone when they were passed by a car driven by Charles William McIntrye, 40, who was traveling at 104 miles per hour.
Police sped up with their emergency lights engaged, but McIntrye continue at a high rate of speed passing two cars at 117 miles per hour then dove across the highway to take exit 121 at Johnson Avenue.
After turning left on Johnson Avenue, he ran a traffic signal then onto Barnett’s Run Road where police stopped the car.
When police ordered McIntrye out of the car the noticed an open container of alcohol after he told them he had been drinking but it was about three hours ago.
McIntyre failed field sobriety tests and registered a BAC of .181 during a test.
McIntyre has been charged with fleeing while DUI ans is being held in the North Central Regional Jail.
