GREENE COUNTY, PA. – An 18-year-old man accused of killing his mother and injuring his father is in custody after being arrested in West Virginia.
West Virginia State Police arrested Jared Noll on Saturday in connection with a shooting that occurred Friday afternoon in Greene County, PA. Pennsylvania State Police said troopers were called to a home in New Freeport, PA, for reports of a shooting and found a man and woman, identified as a married couple, with gunshot wounds.
The victims identified their son, Noll, as the suspected shooter, and police said he fled on foot following the shooting. He was located in West Virginia on Saturday and, according to police, was armed when he was arrested.
Noll was located near Hundred in Wetzel County, according to local WBOY.
Both victims were taken to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, where the woman later died. The man was released in stable condition following treatment.
Officials stated that the shooting took place outside the home with Noll’s younger siblings inside the residence. The children were not injured and are in the care of a family member.
Authorities said Noll will remain in West Virginia, pending extradition back to Pennsylvania. He has been charged with homicide and attempted homicide.
