GRAFTON, W.Va. — The band director at Grafton High School is facing criminal charges for failure to report an assault, according to a reported filed with the Taylor County Prosecutor’s Office.
Christopher Rucker is charged with failure to report child abuse or neglect.
Investigators believe that Rucker, a mandated reporter by West Virginia state code, failed to report the sexual assault of a 16-year-old boy last month.
The investigation indicates that the child told Rucker he was assaulted in October.
Multiple reports indicate that Rucker was charged Nov. 10 in Taylor County.
He has been removed from his position until the court proceedings are complete, according to a release from Dr. JohN Stallings, Superintendent of Taylor County Schools.
