ELKINS, W.Va. — An Ohio man accused of attempting to run over an Elkins Police Department officer has agreed to plead guilty to one count of fleeing in a vehicle with reckless indifference.
Prosecutors dropped the charged of attempted murder against Kevin Allen Strickland, 32, of Sunbury, Ohio, in the plea agreement.
Assistant Randolph County Prosecutor Richard Shryock told the court the attempted murder charges were filed based on testimony from the officer involved, but after a review of the body cam footage they could not pursue the charge in good faith.
Strickland will be sentenced November 12.
