MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The Texas man accused in the murder of a Learfield/Mountaineer Sports Properties employee will go on trial in Morgantown this week.

Jonathan Ramirez, 24, of Watauga, Texas, allegedly killed Jacob Lough in his Milford Street apartment in January 2024 and was indicted by a grand jury for first-degree murder, burglary and grand larceny.
Morgantown Police Chief Eric Powell previously said a co-worker went to check on Lough, but could not get inside. He got inside on his second attempt to enter and discovered Lough lying on the floor between the bathroom and living room and called the police.
During his stay at the North Central Regional Jail Ramirez pled guilty to two counts of batter on a law enforcement officer in April 2024. In a plea agreement, Ramirez received a 60-day concurrent jail sentence for each count that was served from June to August 2024.
Ramirez is being held in the North Central Regional Jail without bail.
