MOATSVILLE, W.Va. — A Philippi resident is behind bars after shooting an acquaintance in the head and threatening to kill his family.
Deputies from the Barbour County Sheriff’s Office said Christopher Bolyard, 34, shot Justin White, 40, in the head at a residence on White Road in Moatsville at approximately 6 p.m. Wednesday.
While deputies responded to the scene, they learned Bolyard threatened to kill the victim’s family.
At the scene, White was found face down on a garage floor with a gunshot wound to the head but was alert. White told deputies Bolyard shot him while he was drunk.
Deputies then obtained a search warrant for Bolyard’s High Street home in Philippi and found him inside with a 40 caliber handgun on his hip.
Bolyard has been charged with attempted murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $500,000 bond.
