MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — An Albright woman is accused of taking jewelry from an elderly Monongalia County resident and selling it at the pawn shop in Westover.
Family members said Julia Fowler, 51, was hired to care for their relative suffering cognitive decline and had worked in the home. Fowler is accused of taking jewelry the family said was valued at about $20,000 and sold it at a Westover pawn shop for about $7,000.
Family members were able to identify 26 missing pieces of jewelry that were taken and sold.
The investigation also revealed other victims Fowler had worked for and stolen from over the last ten years.
Fowler faces multiple counts of financial exploitation of the elderly and is being held on a $100,000 bond in the North Central Regional Jail.
