MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — One WVU student is in custody and another is recovering following a stabbing Friday night.
Police responded to a report of a fight at 10:30 p.m. in the 500 block of Price Street and found the victim with a stab wound to the leg.
Police arrested Kaden James Vinar, 21, of Champlin, Minnesota, and charged him with felony malicious wounding.
Vinar has been arraigned in Monongalia County Magistrate Court.
UPD Chief Sherry St. Clair said the two subjects were acquainted and the incident happened while the victim was visiting Vinar.
“The quick response from our officers to locate the suspect and take him into custody ensured this remained an isolated incident. At no point was there a threat to campus and, for that, our officers are to be commended,” St. Claire said. “We always encourage our students and other members of the University community to work on healthy ways to resolve conflicts.”
