CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Evidence on the tablet of a child was used to charge the caretaker in a Clarksburg drug case.
The investigation started April 8 that neglect was possibly taking place in a home where Caitlin Fluharty, 34, was caring for a child.
Deputies with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department received a report of messages about drug deals being made that were found on the child’s tablet.
Deputies obtained a search warrant and the found numerous messages regarding the buying and selling of drugs. In one of the messages Fluharty noted the child was with her in the car.
Deputies learned the juvenile had seen people use drugs, come to their home to get drugs, and he said he knew where the drugs were hidden. The child told police the standing order was to put the drugs in his room if the police came to the home.
Fluharty has been charged with child neglect and is being held in North Central Regional Jail on a $25,000 bond.
