BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — An employee of a professional cleaning service is facing multiple felonies after police allege she took several thousands of dollars in jewelry from clients and sold them to a gold dealer.
The theft involved multiple money and jewelry from clients of Buckhannon-based Integrity Cleaning LLC, served by Mikela Mitchell in Upshur, Barbour and Randolph counties.
Police said Mikela Mitchell, an employee of the business, admitted to taking around $70,000 in jewelry from the customers and selling it at the Gold Rush in Bridgeport.
Detectives said Mitchell admitted to taking the money and jewelry in order to buy groceries and pay bills.
The crimes reportedly occurred between September 5, 2024, and this March.
Police said so far only $5,000 in stolen money was recovered and that was in Barbour County.
Mitchell is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on an $80,000 bond.
