BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — A man was killed in a crash on U.S. Route 33 Monday afternoon in Upshur County.
Sheriff’s deputies said a truck driven by Daniel Carson, 50, of Buckhannon, left the highway traveling west, crossed the median into the eastbound lane and hit a guardrail. After striking the guardrail the went over an embankment and came to a rest in a stream.
Carson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Route 33 was closed while crews recovered the vehicle. The truck is owned by United Contracting of Buckhannon.
The investigation is ongoing.
Troopers from West Virginia State Police Detachments in Buckhannon and Elkins assisted the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department.
