BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — One week after ousting Patrick Ford as city manager, Bridgeport City Council named Joe Shuttleworth as interim city manager.
City council named Shuttleworth, who has served as director of Parks & Recreation since 2018, following a career spanning multiple decades in city government.
Council voted 5-1 last week to remove Patrick Ford as city manager just weeks away from a critical six month anniversary.
Additionally, city council voted to revise the general fund to reflect Ford’s buyout. Connect-Bridgeport reported Thursday that Ford’s buyout is $175,150, which includes the buyout, four weeks of vacation and earned days off. Additional smaller costs are tied to Social Security and insurance contribution plans.
Swearing-in for Shuttleworth is set for Friday morning.
