MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A Fayetteville native has been chosen as the next Mountaineer mascot.

Cade Kincaid, a junior accounting major, was named Saturday as part of WVU’s final home game of the season against UCF.
“This role means so much to me,” Kincaid said in a WVU news release. “From age 4 to 20, I was a Mountaineer fan, but in the past two years, it really dawned on me that, if I were to pursue this role, I could really make a change and influence people and our state in a good way.”
Kincaid is a member of the Honors College, a leading student in the Chambers School of Business and Economics and a volunteer with several community service projects in the Morgantown area.
The official changeover with current mascot Braden Adkins will happen in an April 4 ceremony at the WVU Mountainlair.
Kincaid was one of four finalists for the position.
