MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Monongalia County Sheriff Todd Forbes says the truck driver that caused the Jan. 19 fatal crash on Interstate 68 at Cheat Lake has been arrested in Arizona.

Forbes said the Tuesday arrest of Singh Sukhjinder’s was the result of coordinated efforts by multiple law enforcement agencies. He is currently in custody. The Monongalia County Prosecutor’s Office will begin the extradition process.
Sukhjinder is charged with negligent homicide. He is accused of driving recklessly in the Jan. 19 snowstorm when he lost control on the on the eastbound I-68 bridge over Cheat Lake. Singh’s tractor-trailer hit a car driven by Pennsylvania resident Kevin Lataille. The collision sent Lataille’s over the side of the bridge and into the frozen lake.
Lataille was reported missing that day and pings from his cell phone were the first clues that led to his discovery.
Lataille and his car were recovered from the frigid lake one week after the crash during a multi-agency effort.
Sukhjinder will face an extradition hearing in Arizona where he’ll decide to waive or fight being brought back to Monongalia County to face the charges.
