CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — The trial for a Michigan accused of a double murder in Harrison County continues Monday.
Allen Leon “Unc” Schaffer, II, 43, of Carson City, Michigan, is on trial for the deaths of Chasity Wilkinson Romeo, 33, and Corey Steven Snider, 43.
Firefighters responded to a fire in a home on Good Hope Pike in Lost Creek in June 2022 and found two bodies in the basement after the fire had been extinguished.
Prosecutors are trying to convince the jury Shaffer shot the pair over a drug debt.
On the fourth day of the trial Friday, deputies from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department went through the investigation with the jury and a witness who was reportedly with Shaffer on the night of the murder also testified.
The judge in the case also rejected a motion for an acquittal Friday when the defense claimed there was no proof of murder and the fire was accidental.
