MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The latest storm of Winter 2025 delivered heavy bands of snow Sunday making driving almost impossible in some areas.

The southern coalfields and Kanawha Valley it first with 3-4 inches on the ground by noon. The snow moved east and north.
Morgantown was particularly hard hit with a number of wrecks on I-79 and I-68. In one instance, drivers chose to drive down the Exit 7 exit ramp to get back on the interstate.
A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for many counties through Monday morning.
The warned area covers roughly the southern coalfields north through the I-79 corridor including areas in and around Pineville, Beckley, Charleston, Sutton, Weston, Buckhannon, Clarksburg, Fairmont and Elkins.

“A flash freeze is possible tonight into Monday morning as much colder air moves into the region,” the NWS said.
Most of the rest of the state is under either a Winter Weather Advisory, a Cold Weather Advisory or an Extreme Cold Warning.
Single digit and below-zero temperatures are expected throughout the state Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
