CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the state’s highest elevations.
The warning period will go from 1 a.m. Wednesday to 4 a.m. Thursday and cover the highest elevations of Pocahontas, Randolph, Grant, Pendleton, Preston and Tucker counties.
According to meteorologists, the area could get between 4 and 10 inches of snow and wind gusts up to 55 mph.
“Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday morning and evening commutes,” the weather service message said. “Strong winds could cause extensive damage to trees and power lines.”
The Weather Service has also issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Western Greenbrier County and parts of Nicholas, Webster and Randolph counties from early Wednesday morning to early Thursday morning where 2 to 6 inches of snow is possible.
Meanwhile, meteorologists have their eyes on a potential snowstorm that could cover most of the state in the Sunday to Monday time-frame. They say they’ll know as we get closer to the weekend.
