CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Driving could be tricky on Christmas Eve in parts of West Virginia.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the state’s highest elevations until 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The advisory covers parts of Webster, Pocahontas, Randolph, Grant, Mineral, Pendleton, Tucker and Preston counties.
“Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations up to one inch and ice accumulations around a light glaze,” the NWS statement said. “Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes.”
A cold rain was moving through other parts of the state Tuesday morning.
Temperatures will drop to right around freezing Tuesday night for most of the state after topping out in the low 40s.
Christmas Day could include a passing afternoon shower with highs in the upper 40s and then clouds and sun on Thursday with highs in the upper 50s.
