BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — A man is being treated at United Hospital Center after a standoff early Thursday in Bridgeport.
Police said they were dispatched to a “shots fired” call on Sunnybrook Lane at around 3:22 a.m. Authorities said officers discovered a man had barricaded in a building. A standoff followed.
The suspect was taken into custody at 7 a.m. and transported to United Hospital Center to be treated for unspecified injuries. There were no gunshots during the standoff, authorities said.
Initially, the residents of the Maple Lake Apartments, Sunnybrook Apartments and the Gables were told to shelter in place. That was later lifted.
Police from Bridgeport, Harrison County EMS, Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, Harrison Office of Emergency Management and Harrison-Taylor 911 all responded to the scene.
