WVU has fired head football coach Neal Brown.
Brown’s firing comes following a 6-6 finish to the 2024 season, a 10th place finish in the Big 12, and losses to rivals Penn State and Pittsburgh to open the season in non-conference play.
Brown finishes with a 37-35 record, completing the 2024 season with a nightmarish 52-15 loss on the road at Texas Tech.
As reported by West Virginia MetroNews, Neal Brown’s buyout is expected to cost the program around $6.5 million.
“Coach Brown is a great person, and he has served as a tremendous ambassador for West Virginia University,” Baker said. “He led our storied program with class and integrity and always put in the hard work necessary to allow for success. We are grateful to Neal, his wife, Brooke, and their children for their contributions to our University, community and state, and we wish them the very best in their next endeavor,” said WVU Vice President and Director of Athletics Wren Baker.
