CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for West Virginia’s mountain counties beginning Thursday with heavy snow accumulation possible.
The watch covers parts or all of Grant, Mineral, Pendleton, Greenbrier, Preston, Tucker, Nicholas, Pocahontas and Randolph counties.
The winter storm could impact those areas beginning Thursday afternoon and stretching through Saturday evening.
According to the National Weather Service, the final accumulation amounts will be based on elevation. The measurable snow could be anywhere from 4 to 12 inches.
“The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches, and lead to power outages,” the weather service said.
