MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Sentencing is scheduled for late-January for a Virginia woman who was convicted by a Monongalia County jury in a 2022 murder.

The 12-member panel found Tracey Hamby, 47, of Suffolk, Va., guilty of second degree murder in the death of Charleston resident Matthew Vaughn.
The shooting took place at a Van Gilder Street apartment complex in March 2022. A family was arguing and Hamby shot Vaughn, 32, in the upper torso. He died at the scene.
The jury heard more than a week of testimony before convicting Hamby last week.
Sentencing is scheduled Jan. 27, 2025. Hamby will face 10 to 40 years in prison.
