RANDOLPH COUNTY, W.Va. — A Randolph County logging company is involved in a civil lawsuit for trespassing and cutting down timber on the Monongahela National Forest.
United States Attorney’s Office has filed a lawsuit against John R. Fox and Fox Logging, LLC, after the company allegedly trespassed and cut down 10 acres of the forest near Slaty Fork.
Fox submitted paperwork to timber over 300 acres of private property bordering the forest in Pocahontas County. Fox Logging’s alleged enroachment of 10 acres of the forest resulted in timbering of wood and timber valued at close to $28,000.
Fox was said to have started logging in 2015 and operated until at least 2019.
The government is seeking $80,189.04 in monetary damages from Fox Logging.
The trial is set to begin on October 20, 2025.
