PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — A Wood County circuit judge has denied bond in a Vienna murder case.
Hearl Collins, 31, appeared before Judge Jason Wharton Thursday following Collins arrest earlier this week in the death of girlfriend Morgan Lee Stutler-Lott, 22. Both lived in Vienna.
“Seems to be a domestic situation that turned violent obviously. A family member went in and found the step-daughter deceased with a bullet to the head,” Vienna Police Chief Carl Powell told MetroNews earlier this week.
Prosecutors asked Wharton to deny bond, calling Collins a flight risk. He was arrested in Harrison County.
Wharton denied the request for bond in Thursday’s hearing. Collins remains in the North Central Regional Jail.
Collins is scheduled to be in Wood County Magistrate Court for a preliminary hearing next Wednesday.
