BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — State police arrested a man in Buckhannon after he allegedly stabbed another man sitting on his front porch eating a cheeseburger Monday.
Troopers arrived at the home Little Sand Run Road and found the victim with a stab wound in the chest and two more in the back by a suspect identified as Gabriel Santiago Mesa.
The victim told troopers Mesa was reportedly saying “watch out” in Spanish before the unprovoked took place. When the victim ran inside to call law enforcement Mesa allegedly fled the area.
On Tuesday morning, troopers arrested Mesa at a McDonald’s in Buckhannon without incident.
Mesa admitted to stabbing the victim after a verbal disagreement and he then ran into the mountains because he was afraid and needed to rest.
Mesa is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail in lieu of a $250,000 cash bond, charged with attempted murder and malicious wounding.
