FAIRMONT, W.Va. — A Marion County man is going will stay in prison for another 2 to 20 years after being sentenced Monday in connection with a 2021 fight where a man died.
Dorian Clay, 33, an inmate at Huttonsville State Prison on other crimes, was part of that fight in Fairmont in July 2021. Original charges against Clay were upgraded to murder after an autopsy was completed on victim Gregory Lamb.
The murder charge was dropped as part of a plea bargain with prosecutors who said the death didn’t appear to be intentional. Clay pleaded guilty in January to first-degree attempted robbery and assault.
Marion County Circuit Judge David Janes sentenced Clay Monday to a total of 2-20 years in prison but ordered the sentence not be served until Clay completes a current 7-28 year sentence in connection with a separate case.
