CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A New York resident is behind bars after deputies from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department discovered marijuana during a stop for a speeding violation.

Deputies clocked a car traveling at 81 miles per hour on I-79 and conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 79 between the Anmoore and Bridgeport exits.

Deputies then performed a free-air sniff, which resulted in a positive indication for narcotics.

During a search of the car, deputies found a backpack that belonged to Richard Marrapese, 24, of Rochester, New York, that contained 43.25 grams of marijuana.

Marrapese has been charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana and transporting a controlled substance across state lines and is being held in the North Central Regional Jail.
