VALLEY HEAD, W.Va. — An elderly Valley Head man apparently drowned in his basement during the recent storm event this week.
Deputies were called to the home by the Valley Head Fire Department on a drowning report Wednesday after a 69-year-old man’s wife found his body in the water.
On Tuesday, the man went to the basement to check the sum pump at 7:30 p.m., according to the report.
Foul play is not suspected, but the investigation is ongoing.
The state Medical Examiner’s Office in Charleston will conduct an autopsy.
